The Washington Wizards selected John Wall, from Kentucky, with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. The SEC player of the year is the first Kentucky player ever chosen first overall. Wall could replace Arenas as the Wizards' point guard, or perhaps play alongside him in a potential high-scoring backcourt. The Wizards also agreed to a trade with the Chicago Bulls to acquire Kirk Hinrich and the 17th overall pick in exchange for a future second round choice.

The Washington Redskins's defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth skipped the first day of Redskins' mandatory minicamp that kicked off Wednesday. Just on April 1, 2010, the Redskins wrote a $21 million check to defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and now that money will be his to keep. Wow, that is a great deal. Back on March 2009, Haynesworth's signed the first $100 million contract for a defensive player in NFL history.
